Botswana and South Africa Safari

I visited Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa in July 2018. I reached Johannesburg after a 17 hour flight from DC. All three countries have tons of elephants. Botswana river safaris are unique that you can get extremely close to very large animals via the boats. Below are my favorite photos from the trip. 

When it comes to safari destinations in Africa, Botswana and South Africa are at the top of my list. These two countries offer different but equally breathtaking experiences, and I can honestly say that my trips to both have been some of the most memorable of my life.  

I decided to visit the Chobe National Park in Botswana. I was in awe of the vast expanses of wilderness and the abundance of wildlife. The park is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, and many different types of antelopes and birds. As soon as we entered the park, we were greeted by a herd of elephants grazing on the savannah. It was amazing to see these majestic animals up close and in their natural habitat.

One of the highlights of the safari was the boat ride on the Chobe River. We saw crocodiles basking on the banks and hippos swimming in the water. The sunset over the river was absolutely breathtaking.

Next, I visited South Africa. This time, I decided to explore the Kruger National Park. Known as one of the largest game reserves in Africa, it is home to an abundance of wildlife including the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros). I went on guided safari drives and walks, and I was amazed by the variety of animals I saw. From cheetahs, wildebeests, and zebras to the majestic Big Five, I saw it all. 

Both Botswana and South Africa offer luxury safari experiences, with comfortable lodges and camps that provide all the amenities needed to make the most of your safari adventure. The best time to visit for both countries is the dry season which is from May to October. 

If you're considering a safari in Africa, I highly recommend Botswana and South Africa. Both offer unique and unforgettable experiences that should not be missed.
